1. HYDRATION

Welcome to the desert, baby. I cannot express this enough, but you will need to be hydrated! For a few months (or weeks if you’re late to the game), I have my brides start a hydration routine from the inside out. This means loads of water, a face toner (something with rose is great!), a moisturizer that corresponds with your skin type, and a hydrating mask 1x per week.

2. WIND CONTROL

This is more of a tip for planning. Depending on where you say I DO, there may or may not be wind to take into consideration. In Sedona, for example, there is almost always a ton of wind. This doesn’t mean you need to wear your hair up, for some Brides hair flying around is the exact bohemiam spirit they are going for. Either way, think about the climate for the location you’ve chosen.

3) SKIN PREP

No matter what look you’re going for, skin is EVERYTHING! Once you have your vendors chosen, I recommend meeting with an esthetician to talk about getting your skin in great condition for wedding day. The better your skin looks, the better your makeup will look!

4) HAIR EXTENSIONS

Even for low-key brides, these are SO handy to have around, especially if you decide to wear your hair down. They add volume for some and length for others and make every hair style look good from 360 degrees. There are so many great websites to purchase from these days, just be sure you’re buying Remy hair so it can be cut and/or colored if necessary.

5) DERMAPLANING

I know this sounds nuts- shave your face?! I promise you this is the best little secret of the makeup world. It not only creates the smoothest surface for makeup to be applied to, but it can also help your current skincare products work EVEN BETTER and penetrate deeper. You can do this yourself with over the counter blades (hello amazon), or have your esthetician do this for you. You won’t be sorry!
